Some of my favorite concepts are the ones that never make it to stage. This was one of a few considered for Kaytranada’s Timeless Tour — a vision built around the idea of time, movement, and presence.

When working with a performer like Kaytranada, it’s not about back up dancers and choreography. It’s about creating motion and energy through form and light — making the stage itself dance.

We imagined him encapsulated inside a kind of time machine: massive rings that could expand and contract on stage, each one lit with its own rhythm — shifting, pulsing, evolving. Inspired by the spacecraft from 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Machine was designed to feel as grand and infinite — bending time and space around him.

Because time will outlive us. It moves with or without us. And yet, in the process of designing this, I kept returning to one question:

How do you make someone want to live inside a moment forever?
