During a brief residency focused on movement and pole, my frequent collaborator Cami Arboles and I found ourselves there — alongside Devon, Mackenzie, and Adey — and felt called to create something ephemeral: a mirage of dancers drifting through the Garden Spa’s hammam.
Designed by FOOD NYC Architect Dong-Ping Wong, the space already held its own presence. Sometimes it’s not about building a new set. It’s about accentuating the perfect one already exists.
Here, the skylight that normally warms the hammam became a portal — an opening in the sky — casting the dancers in a soft glow, as if they were moving toward the moon.
